Memorial Day Events in the Palm Desert Area

You don’t have to go far from your Palm Desert home to take part in Memorial Day events in the desert. The Air Museum honors veterans, and the Tramway offers discounts for active military members.

  • The Palm Springs Air Museum drops 3,000 red and white carnations from a B-25 aircraft bomber to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of fallen soldiers. Held on the grounds of the museum, you can watch the drop at 1 p.m., but come all day for family activities, and enjoy food and beverages from vendors. Active military members and children younger than 6 enjoy free admission.
  • Escape the heat on Memorial Day weekend by taking the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to the wilderness inside Mount San Jacinto State Park. You’ll receive a 10 percent discount with a valid military ID and can purchase up to six tickets with this discount.
