Tips for Sticking to your New Year’s Resolutions

The holiday season is over and the new year is underway. By a show of hands, who has already given up on this year’s New Year’s resolutions? If you raised your hand it is completely okay. You are not alone. According to the Huffington Post, close to 100 million Americans make a New Year’s resolution and more than 50 percent give up before the year is half over.

If you have already given up on this year’s resolution, it is not too late. Remake your resolution and start on February 1, or on another date that works best for you. Here are some tips to help you keep your resolution:

  • Be specific and write it down
  • Set a deadline and do not give up if something gets in the way of that deadline
  • Make your resolution a habit and do it everyday
  • Take time to review your resolution throughout the year
  • Hold yourself accountable by telling others about your goals
  • Ask for help sticking to your goals
  • Think big, but take baby steps throughout the year to get there
  • Make your resolutions fun and exciting
