Tips for Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions

Learn how you can keep your resolutions this coming year.

With 2018 almost upon us, it’s time to think about setting resolutions for the New Year.  While many people set goals for themselves, they often struggle to see these resolutions through.  This year, don’t let all your plans fall through.  Try out these tips to keep your New Year’s resolutions.

1) Set Short-Term Goals

While setting big goals might seem appealing, they are harder to keep because you don’t always see immediate progress.  That’s why it’s usually better to set short term goals that will help you reach a long-term objective.  For instance, if you want to lose 3o pounds this year, set smaller weight loss goals to keep you going.  Breaking it down into 5 or 10-pound increments will make it easier to see results and stay motivated.

2) Announce Your Goals

Another way to keep your New Year’s resolution is by telling others about the goals you’ve set.  When people are holding you accountable, you are far more likely to maintain your efforts.  So, make an effort to state your goals out loud rather than just keeping them to yourself.  This could make all the difference in reaching your resolutions.

3) Stay Positive

When you are trying to accomplish a major goal, it’s natural to experience setbacks.  However, it’s important that you don’t let your small failures discourage you.  If you are discouraged, then you are far more likely to give up on your aspirations.  When faced with a setback, do your best to stay positive and continue to move forward.  Your determination will make you stronger and you will be more likely to meet your resolutions this year.
